Michael Osheku is a product manager, creative entrepreneur, cultural curator, and tech innovator committed to building platforms that help people thrive and ideas grow.

With a passion for storytelling, innovation, and access, Michael’s work spans film, culture, events, and product development — all rooted in one mission: to empower creatives and amplify underrepresented voices.

He is the founder of the African Smartphone International Film Festival (ASIFF) — Africa’s first and most prestigious mobile film festival. Since its launch in 2017, ASIFF has screened over 1,000 films from 60+ countries and was recognized as one of the Top 100 Best-Reviewed Festivals on FilmFreeway. The festival continues to be a launchpad for emerging filmmakers across Africa and the diaspora.

Michael is also the co-founder of the International Migration and Environmental Film Festival (IMEFF) — a globally recognized thematic festival that screens over 300 films annually. IMEFF brings together filmmakers, researchers, activists, and educators to spotlight urgent issues around climate, sustainability, and migration through the power of storytelling.

He is known for his keen eye for talent, his ability to craft engaging festival experiences, and his dedication to mentoring young creatives across the globe. Michael has successfully managed multiple large-scale events, including international film festivals, symposiums, and cultural showcases.

Michael holds a post-graduate certificate in Arts Management from Centennial College in Canada, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from ESAE University in the Republic of Benin, and a professional certificate in Scriptwriting and Film Production from both PEFTI Film Academy and the National Film Institute, Beaconsfield, UK.

Beyond his professional work, Michael is a fiction writer, a creative sound designer, and a lover of storytelling in all forms. He enjoys making music, crafting immersive sound effects, and playing soccer during his downtime.

Driven by a belief that “talent is everywhere, but access is not,” Michael is committed to building systems that provide visibility, opportunity, and lasting impact for creatives around the world.
